A travel printer is required by people who frequently travel and require a portable printer to use. Technology is progressing everyday and developments are being made to increase portability of electronic gadgets. Travel printers are an example of such technological innovations. Travel printers come in different sizes, models, weights, functions and costs.
To start with, one has a choice to choose between travel printers that are either multifunctional or perform the sole function of printing. Multifunctional travel printers mostly come equipped with a scanner and may perform functions such as scanning and photocopying. A travel scanner printer may be attractive for such features, but it may compromise on the printing quality. It is recommended that one should small printers for travel that perform the single function of printing only. A single functional printer would definitely have a better printing output. Also, the battery of a single functional printer would last much longer than that of a travel scanner printer.
Normally, small printers for travel are able to print important documents and basic quality photos. However, if one’s requirement is to use a printer that prints high quality documents or pictures, it can be purchased as well. Of course one would have to incur the cost of the expensive ink that would be required for such high quality prints. For this reason some people tend to go for black and white printers only. Besides the cost of installing expensive ink, the overall cost of the printer drops significantly.
A travel printer needs to be equipped with some type of wireless interface such as infra red or Bluetooth to connect to a laptop or a hand held device. This saves the time of the user as he can directly send the required documents to the printer and get them printed. Furthermore, travel printers may come with a USB support. This USB support would allow users to directly connect a camera, memory card, or a phone to the printer and instantly start printing out the required material. One would not need to access a computer to do so at all.
In the earlier days when small printers for travel were new in the market, their prices skyrocketed and only a few people could afford the luxury of using them. With advancements in technology and a high demand of travel printers, the price has shot down. In some cases the price of a travel scanner printer will be equal to the price of a desktop scanner printer.
