A travel printer is required by people who frequently travel and require a portable printer to use. Technology is progressing everyday and developments are being made to increase portability of electronic gadgets. Travel printers are an example of such technological innovations. To start with, one has a choice to choose between travel printers that are either multifunctional or perform the sole function of printing. A travel scanner printer may be attractive for such features, but it may compromise on the printing quality. A travel printer needs to be equipped with some type of wireless interface such as infra red or Bluetooth to connect to a laptop or a hand held device. This saves the time of the user as he can directly send the required documents to the printer and get them printed. Furthermore, travel printers may come with a USB support. This USB support would allow users to directly connect a camera, memory card, or a phone to the printer and instantly start printing out the required material. One would not need to access a computer to do so at all.

In the earlier days when small printers for travel were new in the market, their prices skyrocketed and only a few people could afford the luxury of using them. With advancements in technology and a high demand of travel printers, the price has shot down. In some cases the price of a travel scanner printer will be equal to the price of a desktop scanner printer.
