Whilst looking for a cost effective color printer, the Samsung CLP 300 is a smart choice. With dimensions of 15.4 inches wide, 13.5 inches tall and 10.4 inches deep and weighing merely 30 pounds, it definitely is remarkably small for a color laser printer. CLP 300 Samsung is around $250 which performs only the basic functions and is suitable for domestic usage.
The Samsung CLP300 laser printer is easy to install and it generally takes no longer than 5 minutes from unpacking to installing and ready for use. It ships with a 300MHz processor and has a non-upgradable 32MB memory whereas CLP-300N comes along 64MB. The CLP 300 Samsung offers only a USB 2.0 connection and does not support networked printing. The Samsung CLP 300 toner is remarkably small and unique toner cartridge. Samsung achieves this by separating the drum form the toner. The toner containers measure about 3.5 inches long and 2.25 inches in diameter.
For a low priced color printer the Samsung CLP 300 laser printer does a good job while printing. In fact it has a very low noise printing and the printing speed is fair. It prints black text at a respectable 13.5 pages per minute. However the first page takes about 20 to 25 seconds for a high quality print. Image printing is not as good as a high class inkjet printer however for its price, it does a good job.
The Samsung CLP 300 has a basic design with a limited control panel. It only offers only a ‘cancel’ button and 4 LEDs that let you know the toner levels. A single tray pulls out from the front which has a capacity of 150 sheets of a variety of sizes ranging from 3x5 cards to legal size; however the paper handling is not extendable. Printer setup can be changed through your PC by using the Samsung smart panel supplied with the installation CD.
The drawback Samsung CLP 300 laser printer has is its paper jams. It is a recurring problem with this device. However with a little effort this problem can be fixed. You need to remove the ramp responsible for paper feeding mechanism. Underneath you will find 2 springs. Simply stretch these springs and put the parts back together. This solves the paper jam problems with this device, however if you are novice its better you call a technician to take care this issue.
